First Day Back

You are not weak. People like us, we’re brave. We’re the ones who get up and face our worst fears every day. We keep fighting. -- Jen Wilde
Yep, it’s my first day back since vacation. Actually, I’d say it was more of a hiatus (haha).
Before I share, let’s hop down the rabbit hole…
I’ve been fading websites year after year. I’ve always wanted to build a personal brand. I’ll get consistent for a little bit and fall off hard, I’m sure some of you can relate to the struggle trying to pick these goals and habits back up.
Anyway, I had my fair share of excuses but once I started getting into crypto and NFTs, I became much more determined as I started to build a small following on Twitter. Today, I stand at a little over 1500 followers which is pretty crazy to me because it’s not like I put out any serious content or anything. I was literally only using it to connect, to keep up with whatever’s going on and of course the occasional shill here and there talking about shit that excites me!
Maybe you can call it somewhat of a midlife crisis but I realized I didn’t hold any hard skillsets. I mean, I don’t hold any sort of diploma or anything, all I got is the experiences gained through building a few small businesses that arguably might not even mean all that much to anybody but myself (lol). Maybe I’m just not giving myself enough credit though cause it’s not like I’m unable to bring any value at all to the table. Anyway, for the sake of not rambling on and on, I simply just wanted to learn how to build a website for myself.
At this point, I’m reaching out to friends for advice, watching videos on YouTube. I stumbled upon… How To Build A Website in 2023 which then lead me to… How Writing Online Made me a Millionaire. Ali essentially talks about exactly what the title of his videos say. What had resonated with me the most was him emphasizing the possibilities and opportunities that could come up if I could just stay consistent with maintaining a personal website through sharing! Mainly, I think it’s going to be a great way of marketing myself or at the very least be a great tool to break the ice or introduce myself. First impressions matter, you know. I also like the idea of leaving behind a little online journal of me on my journey. I feel like, if there’s just one person I could have any sort of impact on, add any sort of value — it just makes it all so worth it. That shit is powerful for real.
Now I’m excited, the drive to want to stick to some sort of consistent routine is something I really need if I want to preserve this freedom (from a traditional job) type of lifestyle. This will be what I call my dailies. At least I’ll feel a bit better and not feel like I’m not absolutely accomplishing nothing. Can’t believe it’s taken me this long (again) to realize it but I need to get going!
Bonus, a few months ago I was looking to purchase a domain, it was going to cost me nearly $2000! Today, I was able to purchase the same one for $10. Oh boy, was I stoked about that, made me even more eager to get the ball rolling.
So here I am, finishing up another post. I’m going to do my best to stick to this for real, I can’t let that grasp slip. I need to build a solid discipline again.
I’ll follow up tomorrow on more things related to how I’m going to be setting my website up. This’ll definitely be a great learning experience! Woo!!
Recap:
— bought a domain name
— excited to stay consistent with sharing daily
